Building A Bright Future Lunch & Learn at Fite-Fessenden House

Join us for a delicious lunch, and learn about philanthropist Julius Rosenwald and the 5,000 Rosenwald Schools which, with the assistance of African-American communities, were built in poor, rural, and predominantly African-American school districts between 1912 and 1932.
Our speaker Tranae Chatman is the Tennessee State Museum Curator of Social History and a native Nashvillian. She attended Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet Highschool and Middle Tennessee State University. She served as a co-curator for the temporary and travelling exhibition, Building A Bright Future: Rosenwald Schools in Tennessee. She is currently the lead curator for the museum’s newest exhibition, Photography in Tennessee: Early Studios and The Medium’s First Century.
