Join the Chamber’s Government Relations Division for an informative meeting featuring Melissa Sizemore, Planning Captain and Meteorologist with the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
Melissa brings nearly a decade of experience at the intersection of weather, disaster operations, public information, and community resilience. In her role with Wilson County EMA, she helps lead emergency planning efforts, provides weather decision support, and supports disaster response and community preparedness initiatives.
Prior to joining Wilson County, Melissa served in key leadership roles with Jefferson County Emergency Management in Alabama, where she coordinated public information during disasters and major events while overseeing emergency planning, training, and risk assessment programs.
Melissa holds a Master of Science in Emergency Management Disaster Sciences, is a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers, and is a graduate of the FEMA National Emergency Management Advanced Academy. Throughout her career, she has supported numerous disaster responses across the Southeast, including tornado outbreaks, flooding events, the COVID-19 pandemic, and major special events such as The World Games 2022.
During this meeting, Melissa will share insights on emergency preparedness, disaster response, and how local emergency management agencies work to keep communities safe and resilient.
