Government Relations Division Meeting

The Government Relations Division was formed to improve the communication with city and county government. This Division will create and conduct a leadership training class for all elected officials, department heads and potential county leaders.

They will host a series of meetings focusing on issues of interest to Wilson county citizens; especially to members of the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce.

Guest Speaker: Steve Gatlin 

Steve Gatlin has been in public service for over 31 years.  Beginning when he graduated from the United States Army’s Military Police School at Ft. Mcellen Alabama.  Steve served in the Army and TN Army Guard for 8 years with overseas tours in Panama, Honduras, Bulgaria. In 1999 Steve attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Donaldson and then Joined the Lebanon Police Department.  After 6 years with LPD he accepted a position with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department where he served in the Patrol Division and with the Warrants Team.  Steve was commander of the Boat Unit and rose to the rank of Lieutenant first over day shift patrol, moving to Warrants/Civil Process Division Lieutenant in 2016 where he served until 2024.  During his time in law enforcement Steve was recognized several times for meritorious service and was twice awarded Wilson County’s highest honor, The Law Enforcement Medal for Valor.  In January of 2024 Steve accepted the position of Director of Animal Control for Wilson County.  Since he began at WCAC Steve has led the charge to improve animal control for Wilson County, adding new personnel and equipment and revamping the complete shelter program.  Recently WCAC began construction of a new facility slated for completion in the Fall of 2026.  Steve is a proud father of two daughters Dr. Hannah Gatlin Souksavong, St Augustine Fla. and Hailey Gatlin, Murfreesboro Tn. and one spoiled dog “Buddy the Golden Retriever”.
