Wilson County Schools’ Technology Vision

wilson-county-schools-technology-forum.jpg

Wilson County Schools’ Technology Vision was a program that was hosted by the Wilson County Chambers of Commerce, Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and Watertown. The event featured two sessions, one in Lebanon and one in Mt. Juliet.

The sessions were aimed to share the vision that Wilson County Schools’ administration has for the advancement of technology in Wilson County Schools and to educate on why it is so important to make that vision a reality. It is said that technology is becoming more pertinent in our society day by day; therefore, it is critical to equip the generations to come with the necessary skills to be successful in a technology-driven world and to offer avenues for them to add technological resources to their learning in schools.

Director of Wilson County Schools Dr. Donna Wright lead the sessions and Principal Jeff Luttrell of Watertown High School joined her to speak at the Lebanon session, while Principal Mel Brown joined and spoke at the Mt. Juliet session. Both sessions were successful and very informative.

During the weekend of May 28-May 31, Lebanon Youth Baseball and the Wilson County Sports Council, a division of the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed several student-athletes from The Dominican Republic.

The Santa Domingo baseball team of the Dominican Republic spent 3 days in the U.S. that were life-changing for them, as well as the families that hosted them. The Chamber’s Sports Council hosted the students, offering them a chance to engage in competition against the American youth of Wilson County, but also offering the chance to engage in a weekend full of cultural exchange outside of baseball. They participated in activities like swimming, going to the zoo, attending a Nashville Sounds game, and actually living with American families! What a well-spent weekend!

The Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank each family that hosted a Dominican child and anyone else that played a role in this experience being offered.
